Neurodiversity promotes the understanding and acceptance of diverse neurological profiles. It argues that these differences should be celebrated, not stigmatized, and that society should adapt to accommodate them. With up to 20% of the population considered to be neurodiverse, it’s an important topic that refuses to be ignored in today’s workplace.
The question is: How do we celebrate, support, and promote this type of diversity in a way that strengthens not only our workplaces, but also the lives of those that identify as neurodiverse?
The answer is inclusive leadership. Inclusive leadership involves creating a work environment that values and supports diverse ways of thinking and working, particularly those with neurodivergent strengths. There are many benefits to embracing neurodiversity in business, as it fosters a workplace where the diverse cognitive strengths and unique perspectives often found in neurodivergent individuals, drive innovation, problem-solving, and creativity.
